The Cascade, Nungambakkam
The restaurant is easily accessible, and from Whites Rd, it was just a stone's throw away. I was not impressed with The Cascade at Besant Nagar, because of the stuffy interiors, and not so great food, though the proportions were great. Infact, my friend and I had a fall out the same day. All in all, it was just a bad experience.
But, I was in for a pleasant treat at the restaurant's Nungambakkam branch. The food was amazing. My manager who frequents the place knew just what to order and I just went with her recommendations. The choice of dishes was perfect.
For starters, some of us had soup, accompanied by quite a lot of starters. You must try the vegetarian fried wontons, momos, and crispy corn baked or fried (can't recall really). It was simply delicious and each plate has at least six pieces, which is good enough for a group. We then moved on to the main course - Thai fried noodles accompanied by Thai tofu curry, and Beans in Cantonese style. The noodles with the Thai curry gravy, and the beans were an amazing mouth watering combination.
The Beans in Cantonese style blew my breath away. It was so well done, simply with just one vegetable, and onions, ginger, garlic, soya sauce, including other ingredients that I am not aware of. The Thai veg fried rice had a fantastic aroma, though a little bland for my taste, was much appreciated by my colleagues who had specifically ordered it. We wrapped up the heavy duty main course with a yummy plate of fried ice-creams. The dessert could have been better, but certainly not disappointing.
The place is airy and comfortable. Service is excellent. Each course is served on cue as you move on from the starters to the main course to the dessert. We were one happy lot. Mouth watering Chinese menu, great proportions, excellent service, and value for money - what more could you ask for?
To sum it: I'll Be Back!
