Sketching: My Weekend Love Affair
I look forward to my weekends when I can sketch undisturbed for over an hour or so. I interact with kids and adults alike and we treat each other as equals, as students of art. We exchange notes about each other's work; sometimes, the little ones also give me tips and tricks to sketch better. Children are so wonderful to be with - their innocence, honesty, and openness to the world and people really touches you. I have conducted workshops for kids in the past, and it was absolute, undiluted fun!
I struggled with this weekend's animal pick: The Horse. I forget the breed's name, but will look it up and update the details soon. Either the ears were too small or the face too narrow and I almost practically killed the eyes, which are the windows to the soul. But after much rework, and corrections by my teacher, I eventually finished on a much happier note that what I had started out with!
My sketches have been uploaded on my art blog: Just Another Pebble. My next attempt will be painting with water colours, which is the toughest medium to work with. You have to finish painting before the water dries out and there is no room for mistakes. You just have to get it right!
