The Kalika Amba Temple in Parrys Corner, Chennai

After nagging my mom for ages, I finally got the opportunity to visit the temple, all thanks to the DIvine pull.

The Kalika Amba temple is a famous temple in Parrys Corner, Chennai. The temple is famous not only for its divine power, but also for its rich history as well.

Chatrapati Shivaji visited the temple in 1677 on the 3rd of October to seek Her blessings.

A lover of Shakti, the great poet Bharathiyar also visited the Kalikamaba temple.

The holy Meru was installed there by the great saint Adi Shankara.

The Mother is also considered to be a great force protecting the people and its surroundings.

Offerings usually include flowers, kumkum, turmeric and lemon.

The lemon is offered to the devotee as prasadam is considered a form of protection against all ills and it is usually carried in the handbag or purse which the devotee uses during the travels.

You must know that going to the temple was not even on the agenda. My mother's friend did not want to disappoint me and she managed to convince my mom to alter plans. The original idea was to visit the Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Koil alone, but the pull of the Divine is irresistable and much to my joy, we visited both temples and had excellent darshan.

The ways of the divine is mysterious and always comes back to us as an affirmation of its existence.
