This is from John Lennon's Beautiful Boy, a song he composed for his second son, Sean. What more wonderful memories can a father leave behind for his son? I write this piece after I read of a friend's father's demise, which was so sudden, so unexpected. He was successfully recovering in the morning from the surgery and was supposed to be home the same day. By evening, he had collapsed, leaving behind his family in a state of shock.
You never know what awaits you around the corner.
I have been listening to Lennon all weekend. Beautiful Boy, Imagine, Jealous Guy, Stand by Me, Real Love, Woman, Watching the Wheels... and I woke up to Lennon's music in the morning again. Some folks are just born to create history and death immortalises them forever.
John Lennon is undoubtedly one of them.
